Made in Hoi An

Our five day trip to Hoi An was dominated by retail therapy, and rain. The former, in large part, a consequence of the latter.

Choosing a tailor in Hoi An is a bit of a lottery. We had a recommendation, but also used Tûong Tailor – consistently highly ranked on the internet – and didn’t disappoint. Chris and I were in our element. The children were losing the will to live.

It was in Hoi An that we had our most edgy food experience. In truth, I’m not entirely sure what we ate in our street food tour, but it did include stops to try egg coffee – salty and grim in taste and texture – and boiled duck egg complete with foetus. A step too far for me.

Thankfully, walking along the river and over the beautiful Japanese Covered Bridge in the Ancient Town, lit my hundreds of lanterns, took our minds off the assault to our stomachs.
