In his natural habitat

The distinctive dawn chorus in the Tropics, reminds me, in a positive way, that I am very far from home. It’s one of those sounds that evokes a multitude of memories of the many beautiful places that we have visited together. Coco Shambhala is just one of those places.

However, if you want to catch sight of India’s finest, you need to be birding by 6am. Binoculars and camera to hand, Anthony was in his element.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and pretty nifty with his spotting scope. It’s hard to describe the intensity and otherworldliness of the colours of the birds – we all agreed that the trip was worth the early start.

Chris and I love the tranquility of Coco, the authenticity of the local villages, and access to Panjim, but the children love resort life, so for the final stage of our trip we headed to South Goa. I, however, am hoping that we will return to this tropical idyll.
