The final stop of our 2022 journey was spent in the beautiful city of Bruges, Khiara-style. I stopped calorie counting the minute we walked out of the hotel onto the chocolate shop lined streets. Heavenly.
We had one full day in Bruges. It is a stunning City, to which we will definitely return. In the morning, we visited the Groeningemuseum with its extraordinary collection of paintings by the Flemish Masters, including the crazy musings from the mind of Heironymus Bosch. Having recently been studying their techniques, I could have stayed for hours and marvelled at the detail and colours, but the children were desperate to make a bid for freedom.
After lunch, and a canal trip through the centre of the City, we hit the Christmas Market, which was all so very pretty. But given the crystal clear sky and watery sun, the temperature barely cleared -5•c, making the gluhwein all the more welcome
In true Khiara style, champagne corks were popped and we ate far too well: the perfect trip to finish the year.
