A welcome return to Zermatt, and it hadn’t lost any of its magic – with the towering Matterhorn backdrop to best vistas, and the charming alpine village brimming with Swiss watch and chocolate shops.
Anthony was revising for his upcoming GCSEs, so we decided that a short break to clear his mind after the intensity of the school term would help. I hope it will!
We fell easily into our routine – morning skiing with our English guide, Rowena – 3 hours for Chris and the children, and one hour for me to descend at a snail’s pace down the blue slopes.
This year we were joined by friends Justin, Annabelle, and twins Elenor and Isabel, who shared our lessons, and spent evenings with them at the spa in our hotel and dined together – usually The Brown Cow!

In truth, I felt below par the whole trip, so I ducked out of skiing for a couple of days. but hopefully not to the detriment to the others. I don’t think it was.
The mountain air, the fun of skiing, and time with friends was a tonic for all. Hopefully Anthony will return ready to revise as his looming exams are ever present in our minds.
