Zermatt with Family

Our first holiday of 2024 was spent with Chris’ brother’s family at our favourite ski resort, Zermatt.

I love Zermatt. It is beautiful mountain village but with luxe-end shopping opportunities, especially if you’re in the market for a watch or very expensive chocolate. All set to the backdrop of the awesome Matterhorn.

Chris, his brother and the four children had an instructor from 9am-4pm, and spent their days skiing with just a break for lunch, including trips to the glacier and to Italy.

Jess and I share a mutual dislike of skiing, so fortunately this trip I had a partner to explore the mountains with by foot.

After day 1 was spent falling over on the ice, we invested in crampons and it revolutionised our adventure. Zermatt has a huge network of well maintained and signposted walking routes, so we walked and talked for about 5 hours each day.

The children had a wonderful time with their cousins. It was a pleasure (and a pain) to see the older boys growing from childhood to young men.

Through walking, I realised that there was so much more to Zermatt than skiing and it would merit a visit when the snow has melted.
