Guest Post 1 – Anthony in Cusuco and Cantilles, Honduras

So, we survived 6 days in the jungle with no signal, savage mosquitoes, a trip in the bed of a pickup truck and (almost) 6 days as vegetarians. The real question is: could you survive?

My transportation has arrived.

Several hours later, we arrived in the Jungle, the truck ride was hilarious and uncomfortable and it is surprisingly cool up here. Also, the coffee is delicious and I will definitely be taking some home.

Day 2: I woke up early to the sounds of the jungle and that morning, we went on a reptile/amphibian survey.

That afternoon, we visited a coffee plantation which was very interesting, but we walked back through a thunderstorm. I am buying coffee for you, grandparents, the Hunter-Blair’s, Aunty Lizzie/Uncle Elliot and Steph and Plum.

Day 3: we did canopy access which was incredibly tiring but well worth the effort.

I bought the rest of the coffee. Then we did a habitat survey and then did moth trapping that evening.

I am all packed and ready for the trek this afternoon.

Day 4: arrived in Cantiles camp and I am settling into the hammock. This time, I won’t fall out as it has a built in mosquito net. Tonight, I am doing a bat survey.

Also, we saw a toucan on the way.

The group left Cusuco in the morning for the second week of our expedition in Utiles.

And to finish, a photo dump!
