Wells, done (for the moment)

Our annual trip to Norfolk with my sister, family and parents was somehow more muted this year. It’s taken me a while to write this post as it did not feel like the usual easy return to my “happy place”.

I’ve thought about why this might be. The obvious missing member of the party was Kiran, a pleasure and uniting influence on the group; in stark contrast to Iggy and Max who required constant attention and proved to be a dividing factor in the group.

Further Mummy was evidently not well – physically far weaker than the previous year.

Lastly, we were not welcome at the Victoria, and staying apart from the rest of the family left us feeling isolated.

Generally, everyone had their own agenda and we spent little time together as a group.

Perhaps next year, we need a rethink. I will still need to return to the east Anglian coast – it’s a place where I have been at my happiest at various stages in my life – but maybe not in a group.
